Derjin Plastic Packaging Co. Ltd. makes a wide range of cosmetic jars.

A $180 million expansion project by the Derjin Group of Taiwan has broken ground in China’s Jiangsu province.

The new plant in Haimen will cover an area of 360,000 square meters. The first of three phases aims to start production by mid-2015, the company said in a statement.

The first phase, with an investment of $60 million, will make environmentally friendly aerosol valves, food and pharmaceutical packaging, among other products.

The first phase is expected to generate annual sales of 700 million yuan ($114.4 million), the local government newspaper said.

Derjin Plastic Packaging Co. Ltd. makes pumps and bottles as well as jars, compacts, mascara containers and similar products for leading brands such as Unilever, Mary Kay, Shiseido, and Avon Japan.

In addition to the plastic packaging business, the Derjin Group also has a subsidiary Shanghai Derkwei Kubota Mould Co. Ltd. that makes injection molds, blow molds and vacuum forming molds. In addition, the group operates a design unit XDC Blossom Enterprise Co. Ltd. at its headquarters in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
