Midwest Coca-Cola Bottling Co., an independent Coca-Cola bottler, added Sidel Group’s ECO Booster service on four SBO 14/14 blow molding machines, and Sidel has helped the company make significant reductions on the blowing pressure and the electricity use of the blowing ovens.
Across ten different bottle formats, the average reduction in blowing pressure was 45.9 percent (ranging from a low of 19.4 percent to 50.7 percent). The average reduction in the ovens’ energy consumption was 22.3 (from 15.7 percent to 38.1 percent).
Midwest Coca-Cola Bottling is located in Eagan, Minn. The blow molding machinery often accounts for up to 70 percent of overall energy consumption at the bottler—much if from compressed air during the blowing process, according to Sidel.
ECO Booster is a detailed overview of production lines, using efficiency measurement tools that automatically record the consumption of all utilities, such as air, water, electricity and carbon dioxide on individual machines, complete lines, zones of production or even an entire factory.
Sidel is a division of Laval Group of Hünenberg, Switzerland.
The North American unit, Sidel Inc., is in Norcross, Ga.
